: All the more odious parts of Frenchy's post aside, scholars both black and white have made forcefully advanced the assertion that S. African blacks were better off under apartheid than under the ANC. You noted that certain "white" parties have attempted to disrupt the election process. The same can be held for the ANC. There are numerous instances where blacks have been "persuaded" to follow the ANC line: blacks oppressing other blacks? Who'd have thunk?

For someone who claims to believe in freedom that's a pretty poor argument. Black people in S. Africa are free today. That ought to outweigh any other consideration. in fact, of course, their economic and social rights are being better taken care of as well. You may recall that under apartheid blacks in South Africa were worse off than in the Congo.

thanks to the Communist influence in south Africa, teh government ahs launched a major effort to build houses and to make education and health care available to the people instead of to the elite.
