: With 'friends' like the liberals, why would Marxists need enemies?

SDF: Who said anything about friendship? I'm not a liberal, I ain't your friend, and at this point I'm basically your enemy, because YOU LIKE IT THAT WAY.

Vanguardists start from a position of mistrust of the people. The people can't be trusted with anything more than "trade union" consciousness. Anyone claiming to trust their least opinions under bourgeois democracy is a "liberal." They have WRITTEN OFF THE MASSES, only they can't admit that because they PRETEND TO STAND FOR THE MASSES.

You want to eternalize Marx's 1850 statement. I don't.

I'm interested in a continuing historical-materialist assessment of the situation. You're interested in ignoring Calhoun, Braunthal, and others who present histories you don't like. Democratic participation is good for me because I'm interested in educating people. You aren't.

I'm interested in looking for the truth of the situation. You want a good cult to join. You wanted a good cult to join when you were into Skinner, and it appears that no conditions have altered your character to make it otherwise.
