Tree Perching Ends; System Fought Successfully (?)
Julia Butterfly finally descended from the redwood tree she'd been sitting atop of for two years to prevent clearcutting of ancient redwood forests by Pacific Lumber, the lumber company acquired by corporate raider and environmental nightmare Charles Hurwitz, CEO of Maxxim Industries. In exchange, Pacific will spare Butterfly's tree, as well as 2.9 surrounding acres.
