: I keep hearing endlessly about how wonderful the education is in Cuba, especially compared to the time before Castro.
: I've heard it again. Thank You very much.

: Now, where are the results that you'd expect to see from this education? No matter how you slice it, dice it or shread it, Cuba is on the skids. What are they turning out for the world? Sugar cane? You need 4 yrs of college for that? What is Cuba known for? OK, cigars. But that doesn't have beans to do with higher education.

: Besides, if these people have all this education, you'd expect to see them voting for things that would be good for them, like jobs, high tech jobs.
: What we see in Cuba is not what you'd expect to see of a nation that purportedly has an educated citizentry.
: You guys, always offering a fat 2 in. T-bone and turning up w/ a hot-dog.
: Yep, you are dead on my fine pink friend, I do in fact listen to Rush; talent on loan from God.
: Hey, I got an idea! I challenge all you Socialists/Commies/Greens etc to listen to him for 6 weeks. Got the balls?
: Or do you all prefer to live in your dream world?

:
: I hope this finds its way to the board. My posts keep disappearing. Can't understand why.

Frenchy m'boy, I have listened to the Big Fat Idiot to see what he was all about, and it turned out to be the usual hate-mongering ignorant crapola that always draws in those on the fringes. Rush's popularity lies in injecting his hatred with humor (and he can be funny), which is an effective way of disarming his listeners while filling them with the same old poison. You know, I assume, that Rush's daddy got him his first job in radio? Boostraps!

As for Cuba, consider that since Castro took power the United States has imposed a crippling embargo on this small country, and you might understand why Cuba is not reaping the benefits of its high-quality educational system. No one denies that Castro is a tyrannical dictator, but funny how our oh-so-moral country never bothers to embargo right-wing dictatorships, such as Chile, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua under Somoza, etc. And though I'm sure one as intellectually curious already knows (I mean this), we're not exactly stifling trade with the biggest left-wing dictatorship of all, China. As you can see, when it comes to $$$ in our great system, all else falls by the wayside.
