: : : And should all of Western civilization continue to pay tribute in honor of intellectual property rights to that one person (if it was one person) in perpetuity?

: : Who else did it? That man would not live in perpetuity anyway - what benefit would he rationally derive from ownership when dead? Its an interesting area - intellectual property, its a clue to a persons intent. If one disagrees with it then its clear that the intent is to place each mind as 'communal' property just as is intended with the other means of production. Its another one of those sticking points where collectivism loses another million votes.

: Speaking of intellectual property, a good friend of mine is an intellectual property lawyer, and let me tell you, it is the sweetest law gig there is. I mean, the companies actually want the lawyers to stall the judicial process. They pay the lawyers to stop a patent so as to preserve market share or bar entry by another competitor. Intellectualy property lawyers get to pull all the dirty lawyer tricks and the companies love it and pay a LOT of money for it.
: Anyways, just thought I would throw that side-comment in there...constitutional law is what I intend to go into however :)

That lawyers eschew their ethical obligations is hardly something that they should be proud of. If i had my way i'd have them all thrown out of the profession.
