They must be doing something right

So if there is no link between work and performance, how come their knockin' down big bucks? They must be doing something right. Of course if your defining 'work' as turning a wrench on an assembly line while ignoring the creative assembling of materials and peoples and money to make new things available to consumers, then your right and I'm wrong.
