: *So I'm breezing along, when I come across this article which has Elian Gonzales' Grandmothers travelling all the way from Cuba => New York City => Washington D.C. to make a plea to Attorney General Reno for the return of their Grandson to Cuba. Then I come across this gem from the tender hearted 22 year old US raised cousin:

:
: U.S. officials have said it would be fine if the grandmothers want to meet with Elian, but it would have to be arranged with his Miami relatives.

:
: In Miami, family spokesman Armando Gutierrez said that none of the relatives was going to Washington to meet with Reno and the grandmothers because, "They were not invited."

:
: Elian's cousin, 22-year-old Marisleysis Gonzalez said the grandmothers were afraid to come to Miami to see the boy because, "He's going to tell them that he wants to stay here as he's always said."

**Well, so much for what these CANF cultists know... from the NYTimes today:

"The two women flew here on Monday night by private jet after their attempt to visit the boy in Miami failed. The boy's maternal grandmother, Raquel Rodriguez, and paternal grandmother, Mariela Quintana, shunned an invitation to have dinner Monday night at the home of Elian's relatives in Miami, who insisted the meeting take place there. The grandmothers wanted to meet privately with Elian at a neutral site."

I've noticed one constant to all this drama. These Miami Cuban loons have consistently underestimated this kids' immediate family. First they said Castro would never let any of them into the US because they would also apply for asylum; then when they make the trip, it's "...they'll never come to Miami." F'n Weasels.

And what admirable courage on the part of these grandmothers. I would as soon swallow a hot coal as break bread with kidnappers myself. I've said it before and I'll say it again... someone needs to do an intervention here...
