It matters not whether Keyes is right or wrong for America to many voters and the media hound pressure groups (including big bad business, but big 'nice'(not) largesse demanding groups).

What they go for is people who *don't* take a stand on anything, who are open to anything, who lack any kin of principle. Take Clinton for example - the ideal 'anyone man'.

Also - Republicans lose respect and credibility because they always compromise on anything. Democrats ask for 5% tax raise, Republicans 'bravely' beat it back to 1% and have the gall to cry 'victory'! Both groups follow the same general principle - that they should direct people's lives, rather than protect people's lives in accordance with the much hated constitution (hated by both parties and the institutions incidently).

Republicans like Keyes can never win because of the religion thing - without that he might have a chance, with it he doesn't.

Bush will win, he's another 'anybody man'

ho hum.
