As an interesting little read check out AK Press's 'Ecofascism' Here they describe hitler as a vegan, animal rights activist, ecologist and and worshipper of Gaiea, deeply committed to the protection of Germany's forests and having a keen interest in the alternative sources of feul. Apparently he even declared that the wind waves and sky are the future sources of energy. I am not suggesting that there is anything inevitable in becoming a genocidal scumbag from any of these positions but it does make you think how such nature worship is easily corrupted from Utopian ideals to the creation of hell on earth.
