Worth noting: I ran across the word 'Capitalism' in my edition of 'The Political Writings of William Morris' in an Article he wrote for the SDF's 'Justice' journal, in 1884 a good few years ahead of the origin of the word thou describest, and certainly, it puts the word to within Engels' life-time, and my OED gives a reference from Thackary in 1854, but I'm not sure if it has the same meaning..

BTW- Morris reminded me of another term- would you accept 'Plutocarcy'? Its what you and gee advocate- rule of the people, by the wealthy, for the wealthy. Would that be an acceptable comprimise term?
