: : Marxism is only one strand within socialism too.

: **In Marxism:
: The workers of the world are supposed to unite - the state is to wither away after a dictatorship of the proletariat - and then begins a benevolent anarchy. This is silly stuff to be sure. I am a Fabian Socialist, who believes that Capitalism must be slowly ground down. It will take generations to beat the beast. Unionization is the best tool to beat the McDonald leviathan.

I don't agree. Marxism is a real solution and Unionisation is just presure against the State which has failed throughout the world. The recent decision against the pilots union in the US should confirm that - fined approx $50 million for taking action. That's the State at work against the workers - protecting the rights of the company not the workers and more or less banning the union.

The power of Global Capital dwarfs the unions. If you guys are socialist, you should know that the economic system underpins the political system, ie capitalism is the foundation. So you need to rebuild from the bottom up not the top down.

And I hope that we can know be friends Jeff and Lark after our ealier exchange - we must agree on something???
