No one does, its a left over of the divisive tribal mindset of us vs them. If you live in Australia then your characteristics arent australian, their yours. lumping people together in collective groups due to nationality, sex, height, color, hair length, or any other non-factor is to fail to judge the person by the "content or their character" (ML King)
