: Just wondering what people think about the SWP's support for national liberation movements.

What, you mean like their Gulf War 'Victory to Saddam' T-Shirts...hmmmm...

:When these movements always invariably turn out to be in the service of one greater power or another. It seems like a silly game to talk of critically supporting national liberation in this context.

Oddly, they are, unlike the more doctrinaire leninists, not supporting Kosovar independance right about now, the ICFI splinter 'The Marxist Party' and the Alliance for Workers Liberty both are promoting the old lines from Loon-Ninny himself about national liberation.

Nationalism of any sort is just a form of racism, and should be opposed by any internationalist group, its just swapping one group of masters for another.

:It seems as if it is another aspect of the opportunism of this organization, it seems similar to their tactic of reaching workers by trying to get in bed with union officials. Anyway I am curious about others experinces and impressions of the SWP/ISO.

The SWP shift in wind nine times out of ten, currently they are joining in the mad rush to be the replacement for the Old Labour Party here. My experience is not a pleasant one, having spent hours arguing down some of their number over reforms issues, over the russian recolution, etc. Their internal democracy is fairly suspect...etc. etc. Nice article about them on teh now defunct Subvresion site, I'll dig out a URL...
