: The point was that parents care more for their own children than other peoples children and thus do not feel guilty over gaining any advantage. Comparative advantage is held onto by those who have it. A state system of 'rescuing' potentially abandoned children may reduce resources for other parents - oops, there goes the a little bit of comparative advantage. Nasty, the way parents want more for their children.

Yes, parents want the best for their Chilren, teh point, though, is to level up, not down. the point should also be that no parents are in themselves so privelleged as to be able to give a comparative advantage. People don't give more to their kids just coz they love them more than others, they give more to their kids because they *have* more. The aim should be to end social inequality, first and foremost, because equality of socialisation and schooling is impossible until that happens.

: If you mean someone turned up at my door and demanded I feed him then my refusal to do so on demand might be deemed 'authoritarian'.

No, cruel and heartless if that peron were in genuine need.
tHEM AS HAVE TEH BROADEST BACKS SHOUDL BEAR TEH BIGGEST BURDENS. YOU GAIN FROM A SOCIAL SYSTEM, YOU PAY FOR IT.
Arse.

: Capitalism doesnt do it, people do it. Throwing people out who are not perceived as useful is not an action wholly determined by free market capitalism - there are many reasons why people might be considered useless in many differerent political - societal structures.

No, capitalism will only employ as many workers as it needs, as soon as it has enough, it will refuse to maintain anymore (except at a minimal level, as a reserve army of Labour). There is a growing amount of surplus population (Surplus to the needs of capital), and mostly it makes up the over 1 million people in US jails. If there is no profit to be made from them....

: Its addressing your dichotomoy between 'innocent children' and changing the system which would necessitate a lowering for some of those children which you must consider appropriate and which those very many parents would not.

The point is to level up not down, most higher class schools do not give a quantiively 'better' education, what they instead give is the relevent social networks and specific identifying markers and skills, to allow someone to function as a member of the higher class.
