But effectively that *was* a nightwatchmen state (certainly for the ruling class it was), since the idea behind such a state is that it exists only to *check* anti-social excesses, which is what working class rebellion can be seen as.

Its where the sodding things was invented....the state did not interfere with the economy, so we can't blame it for the crises...
