: They're electing a new pres in Yankland next year- and it looks like its gonna be a race between the SPawn of Satan and a Block of Wood- sorry, George Bush Junior, and Al Gore.

Bush will win, already been decided. Doesnt matter if he looks like Gore or any other contender. Theyre all Bush!

: Anyone got any thoughts on either contender (or any outsider candidates), any ideas what 'Compassionate Conservativsm means?), or what either person winnning might mean electorally for the World?

Compassionate conservatism means weak willed unprincipled governance bowing to whomever makes the biggest noise at any given time and compromising everything to anyone. Republicans have cowered under this approach to politics for decades. If youre a democrat and you want a 5% tax raise to support the latest doomed social fiasco then just ask for it 5 times and let the spineless republicans 'bravely defend' the american people by making a 'huge victory' of cutting the suggested raise back to 1%. Pathetic.

Ofcourse they cannot take a stand - both parties have at their base the same collective premise - that people dont belong to themselves but to others (and it matters not which others)

Incidently the libertarian party has a so so candidate, so look for the mass media to blank them completely and refuse to discuss any issues except in the context of 'loony wackos' etc. Any compromosised high tax mass regulation insult to intelligence programme will be given as many supportive column inches as it wants - by that supposed bastion of the counter view - the media.

btw readers, corporatism is obselete - thats 70s stuff.
