I'm reading Bernard Crick at present he writes a lot like Orwell and as a result is interesting without being dogmatic or really heavy like a lot of political books.

Since your an anarchist capitalist you might just dismiss his moderate democractic Socialism as statism but you asked for the reference and I think his books are fairly cheap.
