Libertarians, depressions, and Fourierists

Frankly, the most thoroughly I've seen a libertarian apply brains to writing on paper, is these Cato Institute discussions of how the Depression was caused by government interference, as if all that were bad about capitalism could be blamed on governments, so the Invisible Hand of the Marketplace could retain its home in the clouds with the gods. I'd like to hear the libertarian explanation of how the depression cited on this site was caused by government interference. Did the government cause the Panic of 1837, or was it just "the collapse of the real estate market"?

And frankly, I'd like to know where the Fourierists are these days. We might need them!
