Not necessarily. The majority of people, if given the opportunity and sufficient explanation, are happy to pay a little more for ethically produced products.

: And who decides what is 'good' when a community is just individuals making those above decisions you dislike?

Our elected representatives, whom we have chosen individually to make decisions which will benefit our community and in so doing benefit us as individuals. We are nothing without the community of which we are a part.
