: There's no point arguing with pure, irrational and ingrained hatred and paranoia.
Don: Funny. I was thinking the same thing.
: I give up.
: p.s Swords more dangerous than guns? Oh deary me.
Don: Most fights occur at extreme close range, where edged weapons are extremely dangerous. Swords can be more dangerous to face, because the guy using one knows he must close with you to kill you. If the other guy has a gun, he is more likely to pop away at you from a distance, where he is likely to miss. In police gunfights, the average range is about 10 feet. The cops hit their targets about 20% of the time, the criminals hit their targets less than 10% of the time. In one gunfight I know of in NY city, three cops fired a total of 24 rounds (ie, they all emptied their revolvers) at a criminal who fired twice at them with a sawed off shotgun. The shooting started at 3 feet and ended at 12 feet. There were no hits.
