The 'formula' I propose is very much concerned with empirical evidence, but in its totality. Remember that the Theory of Relativity was apparently the product of that 'rationalism' you disdain, i.e. a theory built almost solely on logical, mathematical constructs, with little (at the time) support form the observable empirical evidence. "And yet it moves" is only applicable if the movement you observe is actually 'true'. Thus, I would be suspicious, and rightly so, of the doctored photos of my neighbor produced by one "Uncle Joe" Stalin type, or somesuch. I would consider the empirical data, but wait until making my final adjudication on the subsequent confrontation that would ensue between my neighbor and myself. The logic that I would use in choosing my friend would demand at least that level of suspense in judgement. I would, of course, not advocate or support his immediate execution, which all too frequently is the 'solution' leveled down by hot-headed, liberal types. (After all, we have some circumstantial evidence that the accused is guilty. Why let a little common-sense stay the awesome will of the people? And so on.)

In any case, in regards to empirical evidence, one would think that socialism would have been given up on by now. People being the profit seeking organisms that they are, however, it would seem that this 'theological anti-religious construct' will be with usfor some time, or at least as long as someone might make a buck conning the gullible suckers that can be sold on its promise.
