They are the only reason, and for the same principle - self defence.

the reasons why the Swiss appear to engage in less crime are no doubt wide and largely unrelated to guns.

Here is a strange tale I read about, one Swiss man intent on murder actually bought a gun from the black market with which to murder, and upon being asked why he didnt use his issued gun answered that that was for *self defence*.

Strange huh!
