: It seems like apples and oranges to me Lark - when I talk about self defence I'm not talking about someone cutting you up, mouthing off or trying to pinch your bike - I'm talking about someone coming at you to do serious damage, or invading your house forcing you into a fight/flight decision.

: I'm all for working poeple contesting their conditions, as long as it doesnt include blocking the entrance to other willing workers - ie monopolising labor.

When someone attacks you they are seeking to inflict injury or death, your admited reaction, self-defence, is to react similarly dissuading them from their course of action, now if employees are threatened with unemployment and poverty they have a right to self defence, that is to react similarly and dissuade the employer from his course of action by threatening to use means that will render him equally destitute, I mean what other means would you suggest? Anything other than that isnt going to have any effect and you know that, it would be like moralising to a mugger.
