The Garden of Lunch (poem)

Posted by: Steve Kimberley ( UK ) on July 14, 1996 at 22:40:20:

I thought you might like a copy of a poem which came to me one day.
It's a parody of William Blake's "The Garden of Love". (Whatever next
- "Burger, burger, burning bright"? "And did those fries in ancient
times"?)

I like your campaign; I've bought some of your merchandise &
distributed it.

If you like the poem, feel free to use it as you see fit, for the good
of McSpotlight, as long as you credit me with the authorship. My home

Keep up the good work !

The Garden of Lunch
( with apologies to William Blake )

I went to the Garden of Lunch
and saw what I never had seen :
a McDonald's was built in the midst
where I used to play on the green

And the doors of McDonald's were open
and "McDonald's" writ over the door
and so, I turned to the counter
that so much expenditure bore

And I saw it was covered with plastic
and Chicken McNuggets were off
and a pale adolescent in a strange little hat
asked me "Would you like fries with that?"
