Fortunately not all Americans share "Eatmeat's" views.

As a Jew, I'm comfortable advocating for animal rights. This movement is not about humanizing animals, but about recognizing that they can suffer harm, and that an enlightened and humane society would not inflict harm on them, including killing them for their flesh.

I'm sure this message will fall on deaf ears in "Eatmeat's" case, as I've encountered his type in the USA. Fortunately, many people in this country are willing to embrace compassion, rather than reject it. Vegetarianism is becoming more popular here all the time; 5 years ago, you had to search out veggie burgers in health food stores, and today, I can go down to the local mainstream supermarket and buy soy cheese and veggie cold cuts. That's concrete progress, in spite of the scorn of reactionary individuals.
