I'm sincerely sorry about your personal situation, but just because one person decided to screw up his life (and his family's) with drugs, the rest of us shouldn't be forced to pay the price of his abuse, i.e., not being able to use drugs responsibly.Would you want alcohol to be outlawed because a minority of people who use alcohol do so abusively? It's about personal responsibility and freedom. I have seen plenty of people get screwed up by drugs, but I know even more who have and do use drugs recreationally, and still function quite well in society.

: Yes, marijuana has positive effects on those suffering from AIDS and chemotherapy (I advocate medicinal use of marijuana only). It makes those of us who can't deal with reality "feel good." But have you even considered the effects of marijuana on the families (especially children) of users?
: I am a child of a drug using father, and believe me I have suffered more than he ever will from the drugs. I have several (thankfully not major) birth defects that are attributed to my father's marijuana use, such as poor circulation, anemia, a mild case of "lazy eye", and severe allergies. By the way, none of these conditions run in my family, so genetics is a low possibility. My family and I suffered from my father's drug abuse, not him. Money went for drugs and alcohol, not things that my family needed. It even got to the point that drugs took precedence over food. Drugs stole 16 years of my life and I didn't even take them. So before you make a decision on legalizing drugs because they make the user feel good, consider the hundreds of thousands of children whose childhood was taken away from them becaue of pothead parents.
