In response to the following message:
Who cares if your sons get Barbies? Who says Barbies are only for girls? The toy industry is a major factor in the sexist (and racist I might add) nature of our community. I am infuriated when I see people falling into the "this toy is for girls, this toy is for boys" trap. We are training our children from a very early age that certain occupations/interests/etc. are gender-specific, which is entirely untrue. I guess I shouldn't be studying math in college (because we all know that "girls aren't good in math") too. And I suppose it's just a coincedence that many great chefs/hairdressers/nurses/etc. are male? This gender stereotyping begins in infant years wben we put the blue or pink on our newborns. It only escalates from there. Just think about it.
