RESPONSE TO LETTER RE: DEADBEAT DADS

I must admit that I did not see the story in question, and I do agree that there are probably as many "bad" mothers as there are "bad" fathers out there. However, the fact that so many fathers are ignoring there parental, legal, financial, and moral responsibilities by not paying child support is totally uncalled for and must not continue.

I work a full-time job (plus over-time) and go to college (3.5+ GPA).
I have two teenage children that I have been raising by myself since 1989. Both children are good students and responsible children with good values.

It has been over 6 months since I have received any child support and I make to much money (approx. $20,000 a year and live in Southern California) to qualify for any public aid. A friend of ours even brought us some left over food from the local high school because we didn't have any food in the apartment.

My ex-husband, however, just landed a wonderful (well-paid) job a couple of months ago, has no debts, no dependents, and has received his master's degree.

My family and I are not celebrating Christmas this year and I may be evicted from my apartment in January. I may be forced to go on welfare and then all you wonderful, caring taxpayers can take care of my family, because you don't want to cause my ex-husband any undue hardship.
