: Sorry James, you do not have any right to tell someone else what to put in their own body. Since every human being is the SOVEREIGN owner of their own body, trying to protect people from themselves is therefore an act of war by one sovereign against another. This is why the drug war has turned into a real war with real guns. This, in turn, is probably largely responsable for militarization of the inner-city youth(and especially the gang) culture.

BASE727:: Luke thats all fine and dandy that a human being is the soveriegn owner of their own body, but what happens if one of these sovereign bodys burn themselves or o.d.'s on something who pays for this ? (hint the taxpayer). As for the youth gang and innner city problems i cant help you there.

Luke
: Ifyou use "chid protection" type arguments, there are two problems: One, teenagers are past puberty(I developed at 13 1/3) and thus biologically adults.

BASE727:Yes i realize this biological change i know when you reach this age you think you know everything and get yourself in all kinds of trouble

Luke
: Two, the drug war now kills more people than the drugs alone could dream of! Even if you factor in tobacco, it is better to die of lung cancer at age 60 than to be shot(or beaten to death by cops) over tobacco at age 15. The policy of schools on all smokable drugs should be the same for students and staff: take the smelly shit outdoors and downwind, so non-users aren't forced to smell it. Other than that, live and let live. Speaking of the drug war killing people, New Yorks fascist mayor "Adolf" Guiliani may run for president on a zero-tolerance campaign to include executing people for posessing as little as two ounces of pot! THIS is murder, and shows that the real purpose of the drug war is not to save lives but to accumulate power. Like the Nazis, all governments need a scapegoat.

BASE727::I will agree with you that beating a kid to death because they have a pack of cigarettes IS TAKING THING WAY TO FAR. There is nothing wrong with a cigarette every once in a while.I stated smoking when i was 11 that was 25 years ago,, as for Adolf Guilianihe should not worry about pot as much it is not the most dangerous drug.Taking your stuff to smoke where others dont have to smell it is a respectful idea. Sorry Luke we agree to disagree on some of our points.
