: : It is upon ALL of us to unveil what causes this to happen and to do what each of us can to put an end to it. Let your heart lead you to the answer, always listen that calm inner voice inside of you, speak the simple truth while you can still remember what it is, and for God's sake, stay the hell away from McDonalds.
Dear Dad,
The problem is that most people have a calm inner voice which just tells them to do what is convenient! Even if they know about the slave labor producing the toys, and how destructive to the environment and unhealthy for the body a "happy meal" at McDonalds is they STILL GO AND
SPEND MONEY THERE because it is convenient, and television commercials are having more of an effect on their children than the truth.
Children aren't too young to understand that a hamburger is a piece of the fried flesh of a suffering chemical laden cow. My children refuse to eat meat because they know what it is, and they care. They still want those damn toys though I am not through explaining that to them. It is hard to be different even if you are right! Americans are spoilt rotten because they are taught to be consumers and told that what they want should be fast and fun. However, there are also a lot of American nature lovers. Unfortunately many of them like to shoot animals and burn charcoal. If only the animal lovers and the hunters could get together with the people who know the planet needs forests we could stop McDonalds. McDonalds and Disney should be ashamed of using slave-lagor produced junk to lure children into un-healthy eating habits! I am moving to a small town and wonder what sorts of emission controls the towm could be convinced to impose on fast food joints.I heard that they did something in California.
Anyhow people do sometimes use satire when they don't really care and are about to do the bad thing anyways. Veggie -bashing is in. I always bite back. I think that not eating meat goes beyond a personal choice, it's a responsibility. I wish I had said more & knew how to say more without offending people. The other mothers at the cooperative nursery school forbade me from putting up the "What's wrong with McDonalds?" leaflet on the bulletin board because it was "offensive". I like it,but it needs to be typeset.

: ***Poor Dad, they didn't understand Swift when he said that we could solve the problem of endemic poverty by the simple expedient of eating the children of the poor, either. I'm afraid satire is just over the heads of the majority. It's nice to see irony thriving on the other side of the Atlantic, though, you cultural imperialist, you.***
