Because if they pay roughly 4-5 Cordobas per hour then McDonalds is well within their rights to pay that also.

Simply because McDonalds Corp. is an American enterprise doesn't mean they must pay American minimum wage to their workers in foreign owned and operated franchises.

If 4.50 in Cordobas is the average wage in Nicargua for that kind of menial job (McDonalds lacks any prestige whatsoever) then why should the workers at the Nicaraguan McDonalds make 5 American dollars per hour? Shoveling fries into the deep fryer is an easy job that requires little training to perform.. so the payment for doing it should not exceed that of what, say, a doctor in Nicaragua should be making.

(Please note this reply rests on the assumption that $4.50 in Cordobas is the average wage for such a job in Nicaragua. If it is not, and McDonalds pays significantly LOWER wages than the rest of the nation's businesses, then the principles of economics should intervene on the people's behalf, as fewer people will work or work as hard for such a petty salary.)
