: So then who's decision is it when somebody high on weed gets behind the wheel of a car and kills innocent people on the road?

For a different point of view, try talking to the potheads at www.norml.org . Without taking sides, I'll tell you they contend that marijuana is harmless if enjoyed responsibly, like alcohol. Obviously, driving, piloting aircraft, and operationg heavy machinery are dangerous when high, and employers and authorities have the right to enforce rules to that effect. However, their contention is that drug tests are inccurate and used to punish those who smoke marijuana responsibly. For example, if you are a truck driver, you could get high on marijuana Friday night. The effects of the marijuana will have passed by Saturday morning, and you can safely drive a truck come Monday morning, assuming you don't do so during the weekend. However, a drug test taken Monday morning will show a positive result for marijuana. Conversely, you could abstain from marijuana all weekend, then smoke a few blunts while waiting in line to take your test Monday morning, but those tests will show a negative result for marijuana, even though you're high as a kite by now! Crazy, huh?

Just Lay Off Those Cigars,
