- Kids -Response to High School Sucks...
...I was just talking to some kids today and they were saying that they would rather work at McD's instead of go to school. Ironic, huh? We were talking about jobs that you can get without a high school diploma and that was one of them. We were also talking about GEDs and how they would rather do that if they were old enough to drop out. My question is, doesn't that limit the choices available to a dropout later in life? Isn't it easier just to go with the flow and get through it so that you're not starting out behind? I graduated early from high school (discovered I had enough credits) because I felt similar to you, but then I hated myself for it because I missed a lot of what my friends were doing and I hated my job! Fortunately, college was already in the works. But I hated that too and wanted out. My parents said if I left they'd make my life hell and I knew they could do it so I stayed and actually loved it. I have to say that school can be a pain, controlling teachers and all that, but now that I'm in their shoes, I can see some of the point. (yes, I'm a teacher!) Teaching isn't as easy as it looks! None.
