When you say the biggest influence on children is watching parents and peers that is correct, but the idea that drinking is OK is taught to young children at 2 to 3 years of age, they are watching commercials with grown-ups (much like there parents),drinking and having a good time. And the parents enjoying themselves watching the commercials is just reinforcing the idea that drinking is cool. These attitudes that are taught to them before they can even speak are very hard to overcome.

In reply too: I think that it is a stupid excuse for kids to be drinking! Blame the comercails, that is the only thing you can think of! Jeeze, everyone has to blame something for a wrong doing. Personally, I am 14 and I watch those cool commercails, but watching them doesn't make me want to run right out and chug down a beer. I think that the biggest influence that most kids have is from their peers and there parents. So don't go blaming commercails for you kid starting a bad habbit of drinking bud!!! That is just another excuse to cover up the truth!.
