I am fairly certain that McDonald's has nothing to do with this proposed development.

There is a suburb of Sydney called Macdonaldtown, or something to that effect. It is one of the poorer areas of Sydney, close to the rather infamous suburb of Redfern. Both suburbs have poor living conditions, high Aboriginal populations and high crime rates (its about as close to the poverty line we can get in Australia, it may be poor, but its no shanty town).
Anyway, there have been plans for redevelopments in the area, new community housing and such. Also, the area is becoming increasingly popular, nearby Newtown and Chippandale have already been converted into nice little bohemian, yuppie regions. But I am fairly certain that McDonald's has nothing to do with this proposed development.
