With out the need to call anyone stupid here is a better explanation of what ray krocs role was. There are several publications that will help you if you wish to read more eg/ "behind the arches" or "grinding it our"

Ray Kroc was a business man who sold multi mixer milk shake machines.
He came across the mcdonalds brothers who had eight of these machines. This interested Ray to find out why they had so many machines. He saw their business in operation with 15c hamburgers at the time and saw the potential for success through expansion. The idea of fast service restaurants was basically unheard of then. Ray bought the rights to franchise and expand the business using the name "McDonalds".
