Fast food whether served up by multinationals or mom and pop cafes always has been, is, and probably will always be, unhealthy, bad for the environment and relatively expensive.
When I go to a McDonalds what I do get, that I would not elsewhere is consistency and they do that very, very well. Their restaurants are also cleaner than those of small businesses and they their prices are consistent. I know I am paying over the odds, but I am not going to get unexpectedly ripped off.
I am sure the food is not very nutritious, but its very blandness means that it must be impossible to have it as a regular part of your diet.
