We have a similar policy

: The poicy is SUPPOSED to be that the person who cleans the lot (daily) is also in charge to pick up litter all around the store and the surrounding area. My store is on a corner of a block, so we clean all around the perimeter of that block of all McD litter. That is supposed to be how it works everywhere, but even I have noticed some other stores do a poor job in cleaning up.

Burger King has a similar policy, except we are to clean up all the litter in our surrounding areas, not just BK litter. They want us to keep our property and all adjacent properties free of litter. So if someone from the Corporation came to visit us and the bank next door looked like a dump with garbage on the ground, even if it's not BK garbage, we would be required to clean it. Even the sidewalk in front of our store, although owned by the city, we are required to keep clean.
