Cook to Order

What's the deal with "cook to order"? Is it not going to consume such an immense amount of time, we will no longer be serving FAST food? It would be hell during the lunch rush, or during the evening when fewer people are working. What is the logic behind this move? Granted, I still have my niche making countless fries every day during the lunch rush, but the times when I am on window..
Why do this? Is this going to be implemented in every McDonald's that does not already have it?
