Why would the company want to change it's logo? - Because some dork wrote a bad book about scary clowns? The fact is - the clown is an effective tool used to win children over to McD's way of thinking. Re-launching a new logo would not be cost effective. It would take billions of dollars and at least 10 years to garner the same global recognition as the fucking clown.
