: The best way to avoid food poisoning is to be a good friend of soap and water. Bad hygiene (resturants, slaghterhouses, at home, etc.) is the major cause to food poisoning. So in the numbers above it is "dirty" ingredients, bad heating, etc, that is behind the most of the incidents.

Given the feces, urine, blood, and other body fluids which by necessity are part of the slautherhouse process, there is a higher probably of pathogenic organisms being found in meat products as opposed to vegetables.

You might counter that such filth can be avoided through proper hygiene. Perhaps, but proper hygiene requires time and effort, and modern meat is produced in such great quantities (billions of chickens, millions of cows and pigs and other animals, per year) in mechanized factory farms that proper hygiene is rendered impossible. To achieve the level of hygiene you seek would mean doing away with the abusive factory farm system, which is a good idea both for human health and animal welfare.
