Public ownership is no solution

That is the most stupid thing I have heard all day (and I include the Evening Standard report on the verdict).

The 'problem' goes far beyond McDonald's pay rates or working conditions. It is the exploitation of people, animals and the environment in the pursuit of profits. Public ownership of a major fast food chain would not stop the beef industry being a major cause of environmental destruction and pollution; it would not prevent local community businesses being pushed out; it would not change the inherently unhealthy nature of the food.
