Facts Are Facts: Thomas

Thomas, you are exactly right! I have never read a more thoughtful and well written response to a decade long "pursuit" of justice.
The world is interested in facts. Please, children, don't cry for silly causes. We, as people, are indeed, ecological beasts. We are part and parcel of the so-called ecology. This is a planet of human beings.

Like it or not, we are the dominant animals on this planet. As such, we must dominate. Now, that's not all bad. Sure, there have been and still are mistakes being made. But, on the whole, we have been remarkably successful. Facts: we feed, very well, almost six billion people. 25 years ago Paul Erlich and others were preaching the neo-Malthusian certainty of doom because of the human propensity to reproduce to the limits of our environment (carrying capacity). Boy, were they wrong! Back then there were half as many people and most were worse-off than now. What did they forget in their equation of doom --- the human ability to reason, to think, to invent, to dominate and innovate with and within a very pliant and forgiving environment (this doesn't imply that the environment is anything but passive).

So, McLibel, enter the 21st Century. Times are changing for the better.
Thanks, Tim, Professor of Geography
