Only corporation worthy of this tainted spotlight?

Posted by: Jeffrey D. Hopkins on June 10, 1996 at 19:04:56:

Have you nothing better to do with your time? Do you seriously think
that McDonald's is the only corporation worthy of this tainted
spotlight?

As if other national companies have never lied to the public, or offered
products that one could consider "of unacceptable quality" after
purchasing them.

And you have the gall to ask for donations to support this cause?

Are you aware of things that McDonald's has done with a major portion of
their profits over the years? Have you heard of "RMCC" or "Ronald
McDonald's House"?

"All food is healthy, when eaten in moderation"

Find something better to do than waste this band-width space!

McSpotlight replies:

As we clearly explain in our Beyond McDonald's section, we are in
no way saying that McDonald's are the only guilty corporation. They have
been used a symbol for what all corporations stand for - putting
their own profits in front of people, animals and the environment.

Yes. For our opinion on these and other aspects of McDonald's
'charitable' activity see

As for your "quote" about all food being healthy when eaten in
moderation, this is becoming an issue in the McLibel Trial. Or to
look at it from the other direction: can eating just a small
amount of food such as that sold at McDonald's (high in fat, sugar
and salt and low in fibre, minerals and vitamins) be enough to
lead to chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
Lots of new evidence is coming to light on this subject and we will
be putting it up on McSpotlight as soon as it is available.
