: It's sad the way people who choose to eat meat are so defensive when they hear of a vegetarian. Perhaps they feel they are being judged as cruel and immoral. I believe now as I always have: Most people would quickly choose a vegetarian lifestyle if they had to kill their own animals. I am sure that 80% to 90% of meat eating individuals would choose vegetarianism if they knew all the things that I know. We are intelligent beings. It is prejudice to judge before you know all the facts. Before you knock vegetarians find out all the information, Then you have the right to make an informed decision.

You're arguement doesn't carry a lot of weight. It's just been in the last century that supermarkets have brought us away from the source of our food. People have slaughtered their own meat for tens of thousands of years. If it sickened people so we would all be vegetarians now because our ancestors would never have eaten meat.

My family tries to eat a vegetarian diet. I think the verdict is still out on letting children exist on a strictly vegan diet. People that I know in no way get defensive when they realize I'm a vegetarian. I don't know why a meat eater would unless I started "preaching", which I'm not about to do because eating meat is not a factor that I take into consideration when meeting someone or forming a friendship.
