This seems odd to me.

: : I have a problem with people saying that nutrasweet should be taken off the market. I am a diabetic and most of my diet consists of nutrasweet in one form or another. I don't know what I would do if there was no such thing. Nutrasweet allows me to enjoy the things I used to love such as pop and ice cream. I think most of the problem is with how much you consume. It needs to be consumed sparingly.

: : And how much is too much? After all, you say most of your diet contains it.

: Kristina-if you think aspartame is safe for you, then please take this test: when your blood levels are at normal, drink 2 or 3 cans of your diet soda right in a row, then check your blood again. If aspartame is so safe then why are your levels so high? For most diabetics their levels are off the charts. Aspartame is not safe for anyone!! Please get the facts about aspartame. Your life depends on it.

This seems odd to me. Such scare tactics at work. I'm a Type II diabetic. I have been for over 10 years. I have been controling my diabeties using a combination of diet control and exercise. If I want something sweet it usually contains aspartame. I don't know what the proper amount of aspartame is but I have found that ingesting 2-3 cans (24-36 oz.) of ANYTHING except water will cause problems one way or another. I am currently in good health and drink 2-3 cans of diet soda containing aspartame a DAY. My blood sugars are just fine, thank you.
MCSpotlight: If you are sensitive to any product my suggestion is YOU stop using the product. But don't start claiming the sky is falling. Many people use this product to help control many various problems without ill effects. This kind of scare tactic was a big part of why saccharin is used so little now. Researchers claimed that saccharin caused cancer in rats. What wasn't mentioned was the extreme dosages given to those rats to cause cancer.

Personal Opinion: Until research in this area is done by proper authorities don't start a panic. Researchers do a good enough job of this on their own. To name just a few: Meteor is going to hit the earth. Oops - Going to miss us by 600+ Million Miles. Saccharin causes cancer. Sorry, forgot to mention you need to eat several pounds of it a day for 10 years to have this effect. A glass of Wine/eating Oat bran lowers cholesterol: doesn't/does/doesn't/does (isn't this arguement still going on?).
