- Multinationals -
consumers target in developing countries
I have just read the really informative interview of Vandana Shiva about the future expansion of McDonald in India (in "Interview" in "McDon's international expansion"). She sees that it would be a major threat for Indian people because of the westernised behaviour of a part of the population. This fringe of people would be the only potential Indian consumers for the fast food companies. What she did not seem to take in account though was the basic multinational concept of McDonald. I bet McDonald is expecting to rely on tourists' purses more than on local people's ones for its profit margin anyway. Its only problem is the marketing strategy for having its image accepted by the Indian people.
