I've seen a lot of opinion and "I Hate Wal-Mart" stuff, but precious few facts.

: I live where there are 4 Walmarts within a ten mile radius. The prices differ from each store sometimes up to 20%. When I have taken items to the managers to be price matched, I am refused. They told me on several occasions they do not match their own prices, and that their prices are based on prices for competition within a 5 mile radius. Does this not sound like Predatory Pricing?

I'm also looking for factual information on Wal-Marts and if they drive other small businesses out of the areas near where their stores are built. Wal-Mart plans to build a supercenter in south St. Petersburg, Florida, near where I live.

We have three Wal-Marts within a twenty mile radius, all with unique prices. They will match the price from one of their other stores. Other stores near the Wal-MArts are competitive in price, so I can't say that I see any predatory pricing in this area.

I'd like some facts. I've seen a lot of opinion and "I Hate Wal-Mart" stuff, but precious few facts. If anyown can name names, dates, and places where Wal-Mart has driven competitors out of business, please send me an email.

Thanks,

Ian
