Diet coke

I have a question about diet coke, I hope someone has the answer to. I was recently drinking coke at school and a friend of mine told me never to drink it again. When I asked why, she said that she had heard that when the coke went above a certain tempature, the coke turned into fermalidahide. Is this true? I appreciate anyone's comments on this.Thanks a bunch! Please e-mail me if you have any information.
