Low wages

Just yesterday a young woman was humiliated in the Rupert Murdoch press for stealing from her employer, Burger King, another place where you can get a low paying, ununionised crap job. Bigger and far more serious crimes go unreported eg tax avoidance by these fast food multinationals.
I don't support stealing but I can't help but feel compassion for her and I doubt the crime would have happened had the fast food giant paid decent wages and provided better working conditions.
